The 3rd Annual Pan American Masters Championship will be held in Northglenn, Colorado (North Denver Metro area) on November 18, 19, and 20, 2005. The event host will be Northglenn Judo Club in partnership with the City of Northglenn. Northglenn is the largest club in Colorado and one of the largest clubs in the USA. Northglenn holds an elite level tournament each year and last year hosted USA Judo's Fall Classic Nationals and Ladder Tournament. |

The event is open to any athlete who is a member in good standing of any National Judo Organization affiliated with the Pan American Judo Union (USA Judo, Judo Canada, Judo Brazil, etc.), is a permanent resident of North, Central or South America, and is 30 years of age or older on November 18, 2005 for Kata, and November 19, 2005 for Shiai and Open. |

Hotel Headquarters: Hotel Headquarters will be the Ramada Plaza at 120th Ave. and Interstate 25. This is the same hotel that was used as Headquarters for the 2004 Fall Classic Nationals (it was the Holiday Inn then) and the 2005 Northglenn Championship. Rates are $79.00 + tax, 1-4 persons per room. For reservations call (303) 452-4100 and be sure to ask for the “Judo rate.” Competition Sites: Kata Competition at Northglenn Recreation Center (next to Hotel); Shiai Competition (Individual Age/Weight, Open, and Team) at Northglenn High School 3 miles away from Hotel (transportation will be provided between the hotel and the tournament site.) |

TOURNAMENT FEATURESØ Two contest areas. Two (2) full-size tatami areas. Depending on early registrations, a third contest area may be added. Ø Registration/Check-in and Weigh-in on Friday ONLY at the Tournament Headquarters (Ramada Plaza) – Refer to schedule on the following page. Ø Registration, Check-in, and Weigh-in will be at the RAMADA Plaza, Friday, November 18th. All athletes must appear in-person to verify participation. Refer to the schedule for times. Ø Draw: The draw will be conducted on Friday evening and we will use the Texas Match Scheduling System. Each division will be assigned to a mat and all matches on that mat will be consecutively numbered so that players will know their first, and subsequent, match numbers. Ø Kata Competition will be on Friday, November 18th; Age/Weight Shiai competition will be on Saturday, November 19th (5-year age groups starting at 30-34 years; Olympic weight categories); "Open" Shiai category for each age group (no weight limits) and Team Shiai competition will be held on Sunday, November 20th. Blue Judogi’s are optional and may only be worn by the competitor who is called first in a pair of contestants (the “blue” side). In all matches where the both competitors are wearing white gi’s, both competitors will remove their grade belts and wear a blue or white belt to identify the contestant’s designated color for the match. Contestants are requested to bring their own blue and white belts for use on the “blue” or “white” side. This will insure that your belt will fit properly. Mark your belt with your name or your club’s name. |

KATA: Friday, November 18, 2005 9 AM – 11 AM at the RAMADA Plaza. All Kata athletes must appear in-person to verify participation during this time period. AGE/WEIGHT SHIAI, OPEN, and TEAM: Friday, November 18, 2005 4 PM - 8 PM at the RAMADA Plaza. All athletes must appear in-person to verify participation and weigh-in during this time period. Coaches must appear at this time to register and receive their floor pass credential. LATE OPEN: During the Age/Weight Shiai competition on Saturday, November 19, at the Tournament Site. Time and location will be announced during the tournament. Individuals may enter into, or withdraw from, the Open Categories at this time. LATE TEAM: During the Age/Weight Shiai competition on Saturday, November 19 at the Tournament Site. Time and location will be announced during the tournament. Teams may enter into, or withdraw from, the Team Competition at this time. COACHES: Friday, November 18, 2005 4 PM - 8 PM at the RAMADA Plaza. ALL COACHES must check-in with tournament officials on Friday, November 18, 2005 between the 4 PM and 8 PM to receive credentials and floor passes. International Coaches and USA nationally certified coaches ONLY will be provided credentials. Only coaches with such credentials will be allowed to coach matside (one coach per athlete in the appropriate coaches chair.) one entry fee authorizes an athlete to compete in one Age/Weight
division, the Open division for his/her age group, and one team. For
Kata,
one entry fee authorizes an athlete to compete in a maximum of three (3)
katas (combination of single and/or mixed gender).
Both Tori and Uke must pay separate registration fees. Mail

(1) Gold, one (1) Silver, and two (2) Bronze medals will be awarded in
each division. Both
Kata competitors in a pair will receive medals.

Shiai Rules: General: The Masters Championships will be conducted in accordance with the Contest Rules, Organization Code and Sporting Code of the International Judo Federation with the following modifications. Match Lengths: Under 60 years old: 3 minutes for men and women; 60 years old or older: 2 1/2 minutes for men and women. Golden Score: Under 40 years old: Golden Score will be in effect; 40 years old or older: No Golden Score. |
